131226 - Heater installation, before

After reading a lot of horror stories about mounting the heater and its control cable, I was really looking forward to trying my own solution to the challenge of the latter. My fairly simple solution is as follows:

Step 1. Insert a choke cable, or an equally flexible wire, through the heater control cable outer sheath, through the firewall and the heater well and finally screw it in place in the nipple on the heater outlet flap.

Step 2. Mount the heater, keeping the wire out of the way. My heater got in place fairly easily, as my B is an early one I only had to compress a ring and a strip of thin foam against the firewall.
