With the body in storage I got some work done on other parts of the car, like restoring the carburettors. There were lots of play in the spindles, almost a full millimetre radially, but the wear was mostly in the shafts and the bushes could be drilled and reamed to take oversize shafts. After I luckily found a cheap set of these finding a reamer turned out to be a bit tough, but finally a suitable 8.15 mm one turned up on eBay and the actual work on the carbs was straightforward. I really should have done the drilling and reaming (too big a step in diameter to ream directly) in a drill press, but I did all the work on my desk at home. It should work, we'll see eventually...
