I was confident in my soldering of the tap thread, but thought it best to make sure the rest of the radiator was water tight. Not until after I filled and sanded the tanks though, that's why there is primer on. Testing for leaks was easy enough using a blown bicycle inner tube. I put a screw with Teflon tape in the tap thread as I had yet to actually find the tap, with a new rad cap and some pressure applied I sprayed soapy water on and looked for bubbles.
