A long time ago I bought a recored radiator on eBay and the time had come to tidying it up a bit. My original plan was to replace the fairly dented tanks with my original ones, but a radiator technician I contacted advised against it. I was going to cut the "new" tanks away and desolder the remnants, but he said the risk of desoldering the inner joints of the core at the same time is too high for him to think it would be a good idea. When I first got this radiator I saw it had no thread for the drain tap, but I thought the tank was just different until I started cleaning it for soldering in the thread from my original radiator. Maybe the thread insert got lost during the recoring or maybe they chose to leave it out, whatever the reason their choice of plug apparently was a coin. I am not familiar with British coins and I have yet to put any real effort into cleaning it, but "PENCE" was clearly readable while the solder was flowing.
