I got to use the clamps I made some time ago when fixing the filler piece for the left wing in place, after welding a wire loop to the last of their nuts not being turnable by hand. I'm satisfied with the shape of the filler piece I made up, but my welding today was terrible. The metal got distorted even though I cooled it after each weld, but only where I did short bursts. The longest welds didn't distort at all. Weird. I'll have to use more filler than I hoped, I never managed to get the panel flat enough to be satisfied. It's hard to get a dolly in position inside the wing, my arms are too big. Well, at least it won't show when it's done and it's as strong as new so it'll have to do.
