090705 - Battery boxes

The first update in some time, I keep forgetting to bring my camera to the workshop. Plus I got a day job keeping me away from the car. My plan was to spend all summer in the workshop, before school starts again in September, but now I repair cell phones all day long instead. Well, well...

This weekend has seen me welding up the battery boxes, which was the last of the welding that needed to be done inside the cockpit. I replaced both outer halves of the boxes as they were pretty rotten, and will need to patch up the bottom of the inner right one. I made the patch, realizing it is probably the last fabrication work I need on the car. Almost a bit sad, as it's the part of restoration work I like best. I have found myself wanting to start cutting up and make repairs to dad´s 1971 Citroën DS 21, but I probably should stay focused on my own car. Next weekend I hope to be able to sandblast the underside from the rear firewall backwards, as the blaster who did the car obviously forgot it. I'll see if I get hold of what's needed until then.
